Looks like someone finally went and skillfully created a viable port of the classic game Tutankham for the good ol' C64. Luca, of LC-Games has done, in my opinion, an excellent job on his game, which is downloadable here. Interestingly enough, for a more accurate rendition of the original arcade version, it is suggested to play the game on an NTSC C64.

Tutankham was one of those games that I found to be very frustrating to play, but I also found it difficult to walk away from it. It's one of those games I love to hate. I can't imagine how many quarters I pumped into that damn arcade machine!

So, why do I think Luca did such a good job on his port? Because playing his version of this game brings up those same feelings of utter frustration which, for some reason, compels me to play it again and again. I'm terrible at it, but still want to have just one more try.

The only thing is, I don't think the game is quite ready for any high-score game competitions just yet. I happened across this bug in one of my gaming sessions:

Update: After receiving some feedback from Luca, the bug I experienced while I was playing may actually be the fault of WinVICE and not with the game. In any case, I haven't seen the issue happen since.
